Orange Butter Lip Balm
This...
I will be honest with you. I have been dying to play with our new Sea Buckthorn Oil. I really like the color and I wanted to see it in a lip balm. I have seen other get a red-orange color to their lip balm and I was green with envy. Now that we have the Sea Buckthorn Oil, I can play with it too! Come join me in the kitchen as we explore the possibilities of this beautiful oil!
Now, the Sea Buckthorn Oil has a herbaceous odor to it. I didn’t want to use too much of the Sea Buckthorn Oil because I didn’t want the lip balm to taste herbaceous. I kept the percentage rate low to prevent much influence in the flavor but enough to get it some color. I think next time I might play with higher percentages in something I can get away with an herbaceous flavor. I didn’t realize what the final color would be. I was expecting more of a red color, not an orange! This would be a fun addition to the Beloved Orange Lip Balm we made last week! What other flavors might you use with this vibrant color? This lip balm was very smooth and creamy. It was also very polite in the flavor department. The Sea Buckthorn Oil is light, almost like Argan Oil. However, unlike Argan Oil, it can turn your skin color! Use lightly! Collect needed items:
Recipe:
Weigh all ingredients except for the flavor oils into your microwave safe container. Microwave in short bursts until all ingredients are melted. The beeswax will take the most time to melt, but if you stir the lip balm after the other oils have been heated, it will melt quickly. Once the mixture is melted, add the flavor oils. Stir until all of the flavor has been incorporated. Fill tubes or jars. Cool. Label.
