Coffee Body Lotion Comparison

Finished Lotion

Finished Coffee Body Lotion

Yesterday we made the Coffee Body Lotion with Isopropyl Myristate. So when I was asked if adding Isopropyl Myristate really makes a different, I knew I couldn’t pass up the perfect opportunity to compare a lotion made with Isopropyl Myristate and one without. Come join me. You will be amazed at what a difference one ingredient can make!

To keep things as comparable as possible, I kept the recipe the same from yesterday. I only removed the Isopropyl Myristate and added the difference to the water. Are you ready? You might want to keep track of your socks!

When I asked a few members of our team to compare the two lotions, many were skeptical that one ingredient could make such a difference. Many loved the soft, velvety texture of the formulation with the Isopropyl Myristate. You can imagine my surprise when they became quite vocal about their preferences!

Many of the testers felt that the formulation with the Isopropyl Myristate made for a better, lighter, silkier body lotion. The formulation without Isopropyl Myristate seemed better applied to dry skin like feet and elbows. I recommend trying them both to see which you like better!

Weigh everything except the Liquid Germall Plus into a microwave safe container. Heat gently until everything is liquid. Using an immersion blender, mix the solution well. Allow it to cool to below 120° F before adding the Liquid Germall Plus. Stir well. You want to make sure that the preservative is mixed into the lotion completely.

Scoop the lotion into a bag so you can pipe it into your jars. I find that using a bag saves me time, reduces clean up and prevents wasted product. They are a huge help! I highly recommend them.

Cap and label the jars of cooled lotion. Enjoy!
