Cotton Foaming Layered Bath Salts for a Relaxing Home Spa Day

I’m looking forward to our company-wide Spring Break that starts tomorrow! I have a home spa day scheduled, and I decided that I wanted to sneak into the blog kitchen to make a batch of Foaming Bath Salts before I left. As I was whipping up this super easy batch, all the other gals came through and asked if I’d make a bottle for them. Um, sure!

Since these bath salts were so popular with the gals here, I’m sharing this simple and fun recipe with you. To make foaming bath salts, you need the salt of your choice and Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA). If you want color or scent, those are optional additions.

I chose Epsom Salt for this recipe because they are noted to help ease muscle pains, encourage flexibility, and reduce inflammation. I also had a partial box of Epsom Salts that I could use!

In my search for a calm and clean scent, I decided that I wanted to use Cotton Fragrance Oil. I find Cotton to be a delightful scent that reminds me to breathe in deeply and let all my tension go.

* The premixed colors were made by mixing 1/2 tsp of dry dye colorant with 2 ounces of water in a 2 oz bottle with a spray head. After the color was mixed, I used this to color the salts. Use as much or as little color as you desire.

Instructions

Weigh all dry ingredients into your desired mixing container and mix thoroughly. Now you can add the fragrance and mix again! After the fragrance and dry ingredients have been thoroughly mixed, divide the mixture into two equal portions in plastic bags.

Using a spray bottle filled with the Grape premixed color, spritz and knead one portion at a time until you get your preferred colors. I spritzed the first half of the mixture about 15 times and then kneaded the bag to thoroughly mix the color with the bath salts mixture. I repeated the spritzing process with the second half of the mixture about 5 times to get my pale blue. Now that the salt is colored to your desired colors, set the bags aside and prepare to fill your Bath Salt Tubes!

I used a funnel to help fill my Bath Salt Tubes quickly without making too much of a mess. It was really easy to alternate the colors and I found that if I used my scale, I could layer my colors evenly with the help of my scale. Simply adding 1 ounce per color gave me 4 layers of salt that looked gorgeous in the tube as well as beautifully balanced. You can quickly increase the batch size and fill many Bath Salt Tubes as you desire.
