This is the final day of our Foot Maintenance Week. I have had so much fun taking care of my feet this week. I don’t want it to end, and it doesn’t have to! When I was trying to come up with ideas for this series, I had a hard time thinking of 5 different products that can be made for the feet.
A cuticle treatment for your toes didn’t cross my mind until I had a brainstorming session with all of the ladies at The Sage. Brainstorming with people you enjoy is the best way to get new and fresh ideas. This toe cuticle treatment is the perfect way to prep your toenails for a new paint job. There is something so satisfying about looking down at your toes and seeing a beautiful set of colorful nails shining back at you.
Any of the items that we have made this week would make an excellent gift basket for any time of the year! I don’t know about you, but I would love to receive a gift basket full of goodies to pamper my feet as a gift. If you do make a gift basket send us pictures! It is so fun to see everyone’s creations.

When I first formulated this recipe I based it off a recipe I found scribbled in the back of one of my notebooks. It wasn’t until I began heating my mixture that I realized something was off with my recipe. I heated the mixture for about 30 seconds and then started to mix it. I was frustrated to realize my oils and water were not mixing together. I looked at the recipe and quickly discovered that I forgot to add an emulsifier! Doh! Luckily I got some help from Andee to reformulate and save my recipe. If you ever run into a problem during your making adventures make sure to give us a call! We have a few ladies that are experts when it comes to making lotions, soaps, and anything else you can think of. Don’t give up and throw your recipe away. Give us a call, we can probably help you fix it.
To make this cuticle treatment, I weighed out everything except for the preservative, Liquid Germall Plus, and the essential oils. Set these ingredients aside because we will add them later. Once all the other ingredients are weighed out into a microwave-safe container, they need to be heated until everything is melted. I like to go for 30 seconds at a time in the microwave, stirring in between. This mixture needs to cool to below 120ºF – if you skip this step and don’t allow the mixture to cool, there is a very high possibility that the preservative will fail and the cream can go moldy. Once the mixture is cooled, the preservative and essential oils can be added and mixed in.
