Fragrance Testing in Cold Process Soap: Black Raspberry, Bella, Dreamsicle, Bergamont & Chamomile, and Citrus & Basil

I have more photos for our Fragrance Testing Series! This is a long series of blog posts that shows the testing of our fragrances in Cold Process Soap. We are testing ALL of the fragrances in our catalog at their maximum recommended usage rate for Cold Process Soap and showing you pictures of what the finished soaps look like in a side by side comparison with an unscented control batch. Since these fragrances are all being tested at their maximum recommended usage rate, I wouldn’t recommend using more fragrance. These soaps are strongly scented and will smell much stronger when wet.

Our first fragrance today in Cold Process Soap is Black Raspberry. Our catalog notes that Black Raspberry says “Immerse your senses in this wonderful aroma and experience the fusion of juicy ripe raspberry enveloped in rich luxurious vanilla. Compare this to Bath & Body Works Black Raspberry Vanilla. I certainly can’t think of a better combination than fresh berries and exotic vanilla.” Oh my, this is a fruity, sweet, and alluring fragrance. I just want to take a bath in it! Oh la la!”

There was not any discoloration of note and this means you can make that berries & cream themed swirl you have always wanted without worrying about the fragrance causing discoloration. We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch.

Our second fragrance in Cold Process Soap is Bella. Under the description for Bella, our catalog says Bella is “In honor of Twilight, the Stephanie Meyers books, we are making some fragrances that are our representation of her book characters. Bella is described as very floral smell, like lavender . . . or freesia. And Edward has noted “It’s mouthwatering.” To round out Bella we have notes of rose, iris, violet, and soft musk. Sexy, but also fresh and innocent. If you haven’t tried the Twilight series yet, we think it is a great escape, a very good read.”Bella has been a favorite of mine for a while, I keep adding this to my lotions and it is a good addition to this CP soap. I love the soft, floral, and sexy scent.

There was not any discoloration of note and this means you can make that wispy delicate swirl you have always wanted without worrying about the fragrance causing discoloration. We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch.

Our third fragrance in Cold Process Soap is Dreamsicle. According to our catalog, “Dreamsicle is an orange cream dream. Sensual vanilla, refreshing orange create an uplifting blend of awesome proportions! I must say that I have yet to find someone who doesn’t like orange. I’ve met a few that don’t care for vanilla (GASP! How could that be?) but Dreamsicle is extraordinary. The house smells cleaner with a diffuser reed of Dreamsicle. My hair feels shining and ready for a day at the park with Dreamsicle shampoo. My toes wiggle with excitement for Dreamsicle foot cream. I could go on and on but that would only delay you from ordering this super scent. Don’t delay, order Dreamsicle today!” For some reason I just needed to take a break for that ice cream treat that I had in the freezer.

There was minimal discoloration of note, a light barely-there tan color. We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch.

Our fourth fragrance in Cold Process Soap is Bergamot & Chamomile. According to our catalog, Bergamot & Chamomile “is a sure fire hit. A smooth bergamot scent with hints of tangerine, neroli, green moss, pear in a light chamomile tea. A perky fragrance which is great for morning showers and anytime pick-me-ups. A super staff favorite!” One of my favorites, this is a great lively scent that is also calming and relaxing.

There was not any discoloration of note and this means you can make any swirl without worrying about the fragrance causing discoloration. We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.75%, which is 0.44 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch.

Our fifth and last fragrance for today in Cold Process soap is Citrus & Basil. According to our catalog Citrus & Basil says “Imagine the aroma of basil combined with fresh citrus. Can you say fab-a-licious? Our new addition is great for those special men in your life. most anything! Enjoy!” You get that green whiff like when you just pick those fresh herbs right out of the garden; with a fresh citrus twist. Very pleasant fragrance.

There was not any discoloration of note and this means you can make that garden inspired swirl you have always been dreaming of without worrying about the fragrance causing discoloration. We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch.
