I have more photos for our Fragrance Testing Series! This is a long series of blog posts that will show the testing of our fragrances in Cold Process Soap. We are testing ALL the fragrances in our catalog at their maximum recommended usage rate for Cold Process Soap and showing you pictures of what the finished soaps look like in a side by side comparison with an unscented control batch. Since these fragrances were tested at their maximum recommended usage rate, I wouldn’t recommend using more fragrance! These soaps are strongly scented and will smell much stronger when wet!

Our first fragrance today in Cold Process Soap is Green Tea and Cucumber. According to our catalog, Green Tea and Cucumber is “Zippy clean cucumbers and soothing green tea, make this yummy scent.” Right out of the bottle, this scent is soothingly refreshing without being extremely energetic. In soap, this is a gentle scent that has that clean, green notes that are loved in many guest bathrooms (and even hotels).
There was not any discoloration of note and this means you can make that green and white swirl you have always been dreaming of without worrying about the fragrance causing discoloration. We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch. |

Our second fragrance in Cold Process Soap is Green Tea. According to our catalog, Green tea is “celebrated for its unique, refreshing and subtle aroma… This one could fool even the finest of tea purveyors. Trust us, we know because we found some lurking in our warehouse!” Andee told me this fragrance really could fool tea purveyors as she had some tea merchants think the soap had been made with real green tea to get such a fantastic scent!

| Our third fragrance in Cold Process Soap is Vanilla Musk. According to our catalog, Vanilla Musk “a combination fragrance that works incredibly well together. It is not as sweet or candy like as vanilla hazelnut. Vanilla invites and soothes with the musk that gives balance and depth. A good sweet fragrance that is accepted by both men and women.” This vanilla is not only unisex but also appreciated by adults of all ages. This fragrance is the perfect fragrance for a hostess gift basket.
There is moderate discoloration of note and the soap is pale to medium tan in color. We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch. |

Our fourth fragrance in Cold Process Soap is Elements of Bamboo. According to our catalog, Elements of Bamboo is a “harmonious blend of bamboo and cedar entwined with lemon, tangerine and ginger.” Elements of Bamboo is our favorite “clean” type of scent. The combination of wood and citrus makes Elements of Bamboo bring peace, tranquility and balance to mind.
There was not any discoloration of note and this means you can make that colorful swirl you have always been dreaming of without worrying about the fragrance causing discoloration. We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch. This fragrance did not accelerate our standard test recipe. |
| Our fifth and last fragrance for today in Cold Process soap is Autumn Afternoon. Autumn Afternoon according to our catalog is “Vibrant! A clean blend of herbs, falling leaves and clean fresh air. An invigorating scent and much requested. This is a wonderful masculine scent with a fresh air twist.” This soap smells clean, woodsy and … well, soapy! This fragrance is not overwhelming in soap in comparison to smelling it right out of the bottle.
There was very minimal discoloration of note and this means you can easily make colorful swirls without worrying about the fragrance causing severe discoloration and color morphing. We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.40 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch. |
