Fragrance Testing in Cold Process Soap: The Meadow, Forks, Jasper, Rosalie, Rose
I have more photos for our Fragrance Testing Series! This is a long series of blog posts that will show the testing of our fragrances in Cold Process Soap. We are testing ALL the fragrances in our catalog at their maximum recommended usage rate for Cold Process Soap and showing you pictures of what the finished soaps look like in a side by side comparison with an unscented control batch. Since these fragrances were tested at their maximum recommended usage rate, I wouldn’t recommend using more fragrance. These soaps are strongly scented and will smell much stronger when wet.

Our first fragrance today in Cold Process Soap is The Meadow. Our catalog notes that The Meadow “is a fantastic fragrance. A bit of green, a bit earthy, and a bit electric! This grassy green, melon, rich wood and vanilla scent is sure to please.” This scent reminds me of being outdoors on a sunny day. It is very clean and green. A great way to share those “Spring Fever” feelings.
This bar stayed a nice, pretty white color. No need to worry about discoloration when using The Meadow! We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch. |

Our second fragrance in Cold Process Soap is Forks. According to our catalog Forks is “very green and woody, an evergreen with fresh mountain rains to clear the air. Moss, vetiver and lemon round out this scent to be unisex and masculine and fresh all at the same time.” I’m definitely smelling that fresh mountain air in this soap. An uplifting scent that is inspiring me to take a hike along one of the beautiful trails in the gorgeous Rocky Mountains!
There was not any discoloration. This is a fragrance that will create a naturally white bar where you won’t need to worry about the fragrance causing discoloration. We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch. |
| Our third fragrance in Cold Process Soap is Jasper. An excerpt from our catalog say that Jasper is “a bit of fresh air, cucumber and green pear, with cyclamen, lily, green melon, amber and musk.” What a light fresh scent! This fragrance is not overpowering in the soap; it is gentle, mild and alluring.
This is another fragrance oil that you can use without fear of discoloration. Isn’t that great? We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch. |

Our fourth fragrance in Cold Process Soap is Rosalie. According to our catalog, Rosalie is a “French lavender top with violet, white rose, iris, woods and sweet musk. Rosalie, while still feminine, is certainly stronger and more animalistic. A fantastic new scent!” Rosalie fragrance is light, bright, and a sunny scent. Very calming yet captivating. (Psst. Did you know Rosalie is a personal favorite of Taylor’s?)

| Our fifth and last fragrance for today in Cold Process soap is Rose. Rose has a great description in our catalog. It says that Rose “holds a mysticism of romance. Imagine yourself sitting in a rose garden and letting the breeze softly tickle your senses. That is how good this rose fragrance is.” This Rose fragrance seems like a moderate scent in our batch of soap. Fairly light compared to the scent directly from the bottle. But wait until you get it wet! You will think your shower has been transported to a rose garden!
I am relieved to announce that Rose Fragrance does not discolor in soap. White Rose soap bars, here we come! We used the maximum suggested usage rate of 2.5%, which is 0.4 ounces of fragrance in our 1 pound test batch. |
