Labor Day is annually held on the first Monday of September. The first Labor Day was held in 1881, it was originally organized to create a holiday for workers; the day would be be filled with a street parade and festival to recognize the work of the trade and labor organizations. In 1894 it became a federal holiday. One of the reasons the first Monday of September was chosen was to add a holiday in the long gap between Independence Day and Thanksgiving.
Many people mark Labor Day as the end of the summer season and a last chance to make summer trips or hold outdoor events. Labor day is a day of rest for many people, some may be attending picnics and barbecues and using this long weekend as their last chance to get in a late summer trip. This is also the time of the year that many of you are looking forward to – football season! You thought I was going to say – kids head back to school!
On this day all government offices and schools along with many businesses are closed. This includes MMS, no worries we will all be here bright and early Tuesday morning and will get busy processing your order.
I think that I will use this time to get a few things done around the house, relax, and definitely have some great BBQ food; I’m looking forward to some yummy ribs, and time with the family. What are you doing this Labor Day weekend? Whatever you decide we at MMS want to express our best wishes to you and your families. I hope everyone has a fabulous day; however you decide to spend your time, enjoy!
