Orange Butter Lip Balm

Lavender has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My grandmothers and great-grandmothers alike had creams on their vanities that were scented with lavender. I remember lavender bud potpourri at my best friend’s house when I was a little girl. Her mother had a tiny silver colored scoop for stirring the potpourri to release its fragrance.
That being said, lavender is also very potent. Most people who dislike lavender dislike the intensity, but if the usage rate is lowered, many come to enjoy it.
Today I wanted to make a lotion that was lighter in odor and luxurious to the skin. I wanted to approach a light, gentle odor by using Lavender Hydrosol. Hydrosols are created when the essential oil is removed from the plant material. This gives our Lavender Hydrosol a sweeter, more gentle smell. The finished lotion has a wonderful, light homey smell. Try it for yourself and decide what you think!

Weigh all of the ingredients except Liquid Germall Plus, Squalane and Vitamin E Acetate into a microwaveable container. Heat until all of the ingredients are melted. Using an immersion blender, mix until blended. Allow the solution to cool to 120 degrees Fahrenheit before adding the preservative and other additives. Stir occasionally while waiting for the mixture to cool. You do not want your lotion to separate. If you wish to add any color, now would be the time. Mix the preservative into the lotion until well blended. Allow the lotion to cool to room temperature. You may now put the lotion into containers.
