Making a Body Lotion from Jerilyn's Cupboard

Can you believe that I’ve finished a whole week filled with Cupboard Challenge recipes? We will finish Jerilyn’s cupboard by making the light summertime body lotion that was requested. As a review, here are the ingredients in her cupboard.

As Jerilyn has quite the collection of ingredients, I reviewed other light lotion recipes I had and simply modified/meshed those recipes together. This recipe is a simple light lotion that feels great after a day of playing in the sun. Want to play in the blog kitchen before frolicking in the sun this weekend? Come and join me!

1% Germaben II Preservative
0.5% Red Grape & Blueberry Fragrance Oil

Weigh all ingredients except the additives (Germaben II Preservative and Red Grape & Blueberry Fragrance Oil) into the microwave safe container. Heat in the microwave using short time bursts until everything is melted. Blend the ingredients to a smooth, creamy consistency using the immersion blender. Add additives once the temperature drops enough that you don’t feel like you are burning your hands when moving the mixing bucket. Blend until completely mixed. Pour into jars and allow to cool completely. Cap the jars.

Yield: This recipe will make 16 fl ounces.

Notes: I added a small amount of premixed Purple Raspberry color to the lotion to give it a pale pink color.

This is a light body lotion that is perfect for soothing the skin after playing hard. My dad even likes the texture of the cream as it soothes his scaly arms. I’ll have to make some for him that is scented with Bay Rum, his favorite fragrance.

I hope you enjoy find some great uses for this body lotion. Enjoy!
