Making Your Own Cleaning Supplies - Multi-Surface Cleaner

Oh no! I am out of my favorite cleaning product! What can I do? Help, my hair is a mess and I definitely do not want to run to the store. Does this sound familiar? It sure does for me.

I recently decided to do a little extra cleaning in the house; trying to get all those areas that I know are dirty but may not be so noticeable to others. I, like many of you, will be having guests over soon and I definitely needed to start somewhere. So I started with the refrigerator, funny place to start I know, but it sure has been on my neglected list for a long time (too ashamed to tell how long).

One of my favorite all time cleaning product is Windex, glass cleaner, multi-surface cleaner. If I can use one thing on most items in the house this is it. Well after pulling out the fridge from its hole in the cupboards I got elbow deep in wiping down everything. If I could see it then I was cleaning it. I had to put my hair up in a clip and everything! And then it happened, the most terrifying, unbelievable event ever. My bottle of multi-surface cleaner was empty. Oh no! What am I going to do? Quick, think before I run out of energy and decide to leave the fridge in the middle of the room and sit on the couch.

Then it came to me. Why don’t I make my own? I make plenty of other products, why not this one? So I decided to share with you my recipe and as I go through my cleaning routine I will be sharing with you a few new recipes that will make your holiday cleaning more enjoyable and maybe a bit cheaper for you.

Multi-Surface Cleaner
Spray bottle
1/2 and 1/2 solution of water and white vinegar

This recipe really helped me out and I am really liking how it cleans. Here are some other options for multi-surface cleaners that you may enjoy preparing.

Multi-Surface Cleaner
Spray bottle
1/2 cup soapy ammonia
1 pint rubbing alcohol
Mix well in spray bottle and label, great for windows.

Multi-Surface Cleaner
Spray bottle
2 cups tap water into spray bottle
20 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil
2 tablespoon white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon liquid dish soap
Shake to blend ingredients, great for cleaning your kitchen surfaces.

Be sure to label each of the bottles with a full ingredient list when you prepare them so you know what is in each. When you decide which is your new favorite then you are able to replicate it. Also, keep these and any household cleaners out of the reach of children and pets. What a great gift idea! I think I will be making a few for my friends.

By the way, my fridge looks and smells fabulous. And I need a shower.
