My Favorite Hand Cream

I love hand creams. I have drawer filled with of a variety of of hand creams with different viscosities. Some are thick and some are fluid. Some are best for daytime use, and others are great for nighttime hand TLC (tender loving care). Since I emptied one of my jars of hand cream, I had to make another.

This hand cream is based on the Light & Thick Hand Cream that I made for the blog back in 2010. Some of the basics will stay the same. Hydrovance, Isopropyl Myristate, Dimethicone, and Emulsifying Wax all remained, while I changed the oil and the extract.

To keep the light weight of the original cream, I decided on using another light weight oil instead of the Coconut Oil Fractions. After reading the catalog, I decided to use the Cherry Oil. It is a light weight oil, and I think Cherry Oil also gets some bonus points for helping counteract dry skin.

I chose Sea Buckthorn Extract, as it is said to be helpful in skin regeneration, skin soothing, and as an emollient. Perfect addition to a hand cream for those busy hands!

SUPPLIES

Recipe: (Makes 10.58 ounces or 300 grams)

Percentages

60.5% Water
5% Hydrovance
4% Isopropyl Myristate
4% Dimethicone
5% Emulsifying Wax
17% Cherry Oil
2% Sea Buckthorn Extract
0.5% Liquid Germall Plus
1% Vitamin E
1% Romantic Wish Fragrance Oil

INSTRUCTIONS

Weigh all ingredients except the additives into the microwave safe container. Heat in the microwave using short time bursts until everything is melted.

Blend the ingredients to a smooth, creamy consistency using the immersion blender.

Add additives once the temperature drops to 120 F in the mixing bucket. Blend until completely mixed. Pour into jars and allow to cool completely before capping.

NOTES

This cream rubs into the hands easily. I think this is a great workspace hand cream, as it falls solidly in my category of “Apply and Go.” As this cream is not super stiff or thick, you could easily put this in a bottle with a High Viscosity Pump. Happy hands are just a pump away!
