Pampering Hands with Butters and Salves with Ingredients from the Cupboards of Jennifer and Wanda

Jennifer's Intense Hand Salve

Jennifer’s Intense Hand Salve

Today I will tackle a few more of the requests from my mountain of requests for our Quick Gifts from Your Cupboard blog post! Following the post from yesterday, we are going to focus on anhydrous products today. These are recipes that are still great for pampering hands (or the rest of the body), but don’t use water. Let’s go take a peek at the recipes I’ve come up with!

Wanda’s Lotion Bar

Wanda commented that she wanted to try her hand at making a body butter. As she is a soapmaker who is wanting to venture into other products, I thought I would give her two recipes to try with the ingredients she has on hand. The first recipe is a simple lotion bar recipe that was inspired by the Lotion Bar recipe.

25% Beeswax
17% Regular Cocoa Butter or White Cocoa Butter
15% Shea Butter, Refined
10% Mango Butter
33% Rice Bran Oil

Wanda’s Creamed Body Butter

The other recipe that I formulated for Wanda was based on a recent blog post/recipe for a Creamed Shea Body Butter. I added a fragrance that she has on hand and used Rice Bran to help soften the texture of the finished butter.

89% Shea Butter, Refined
9.5% Rice Bran Oil
0.5% Vanilla Yogurt Fragrance Oil or fragrance of your choice

Jennifer’s Intense Hand Salve

Jennifer Gale wrote in requesting either an intense hand cream. Well, I had the almost-perfect recipe for her. It just needed a few changes! I took the Bottoms Up Day 5 formula and made a few tweaks. I made a test batch and it turned out with a very similar texture!

25% High Melt Point Shea Butter
30% Macadamia Nut Butter
10% Cocoa Butter, Deodorized or White
4.5% Jojoba, Golden or Colorless
7.5% Beeswax
10% Apricot Kernel Oil
6% Calendula Oil
3% Castor Oil
2% Aloe Extract
2% Green Tea Extract

Jennifer’s Cuticle Gelly

Jennifer also requested a cuticle cream or gelly. As I haven’t made one recently (my cuticles are demanding some TLC), I decided to dust off the Cuticle Gelly Recipe and adjust the ingredients for Jennifer’s cupboard. Yum!

3% Carnauba Wax
30% Macadamia Butter
10% Avocado Oil
8% Cranberry Seed Oil
5% Castor Oil
30% Apricot Kernel Oil
7% Jojoba, Golden or Colorless
5% Cocoa Butter, Deodorized or White
1.5% Vitamin E Acetate
0.5% fragrance oil of choice
