Planning a Baby Shower Gift Basket - Day 4

Planning a Baby Shower Gift Basket - Day 4

Oh my goodness! It is so exciting seeing this gift basket take shape before my eyes! So far we have made a lip balm, a nipple balm, a baby soap and our fabulous Bottom’s Up Salve!

Finished Massage Oil

Today I wanted to make a massage oil. Massages can be great for baby and the parents. It allows for mom or dad to marvel at their new baby as well as check on the baby. The baby gets the benefit of soothing touch, bonding time, and the oil helps to soothe and protect their delicate skin. Making it part of the routine can make it much easier for both parents and baby and it can even help set the tone for bed or nap time.

I decided to use Sweet Almond Oil with a small amount of Castor Oil in making this Baby Massage Oil. I love how Sweet Almond Oil is light, easy to apply and leaves a great feeling on the skin. I added just the tiniest amount of Castor Oil to increase the body of the massage oil and help lengthen the massage time. I think that a massage for the baby shouldn’t be over in 30 seconds and by extending the working time of the massage oil, you give the parents and baby longer bonding time.

Let’s pop over to the blog kitchen and mix up a batch of easy-peasy massage oil!

Ingredients
Sweet Almond Oil
Castor Oil
Equipment
Scale
Microwave Safe Container

Recipe:

Recipe in Grams
380 grams Sweet Almond Oil
20 grams Castor Oil
Recipe in Ounces
13.4 oz Sweet Almond Oil
0.71 oz Castor Oil
Recipe in Percentages
95% Sweet Almond Oil
5% Castor Oil

I really like just how simple this recipe is to make. It doesn’t get much easier than this! Simply weigh the oils into a mixing container. Stir well, making sure that the oils are thoroughly mixed. Then pour into bottles, label and enjoy. Gosh! Making ice is harder than this, and it requires more patience!

Adding Castor Oil

For the diaper bags on the go, I really like our 1 oz Cylinder Bottles with our Non-dispensing Caps. I love these bottles because of their small size, how easy they are to hold and that they do not have a cap that could potentially open and leak everywhere. These are the perfect packaging for a diaper bag! If you want a larger container, I would recommend considering a bottle with one of our High Viscosity Pumps. These allow mom, dad or any other caregiver to get just the amount that they need with one hand. How perfect is that?!
