The Days of '47 Parade

Pioneer Day is coming up and so is The Days of ’47 Parade. The Days of ’47 Parade is a big event here in the State of Utah and it always seems like half of the state turns up! The Days of ’47 Parade is where we celebrate the pioneers who came to the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847. The parade was first held in 1849 and has been done every year since! Isn’t that just incredible? Both of my parents have memories of the parade, although they have very different memories.

For me, I love the horses; period costumes; music and all of the excitement that accompanies any parade. If you are going to be in Utah on July 25th, I highly recommend attending The Days of ’47 Parade! It goes through downtown Salt Lake City and there will be lots of other activities to participate in, too! We feel two holidays in July which celebrate our freedom and emigration from other locations really solidify the American story.

Recipe:

Red, White, and Blue Layered Soap

Each layer of this soap is 10.5 ounces or 297 grams of White Melt and Pour Soap. Weigh out the Melt and Pour Soap and heat until melted. Add the color and a fragrance oil if that is what you desire then pour into the mold. Wait about 15-20 minutes in between each layer. Easy as pie!
