The Domino Effect - Product Availability

Have you ever done something where it sets off a chain of events that you couldn’t have envisioned would occur? It is like tipping over the first domino in an entire line and watching the whole line topple one by one. Not too long ago, the food industry had a legislation change and partially hydrogenated items are no longer allowed in food products for health and safety reasons. Well, that is great! Right?

Yes and no. So many industries use products from the food industry, and that includes cosmetics and personal care. That brings us some changes that we might not expect and can ultimately require formulation changes to achieve the same consistency, color, melt point and sensory feel that could be achieved with materials that were previously available.

We are now seeing that the long line of dominos is changing the availability of our Hydrogenated Soybean Oil. The original Hydrogenated Soybean Oil is no longer available, but our team has been working hard on a similar replacement. The texture, color and melt point are all very similar but you may see a difference in your finished products. We will be sure to keep you posted when the new replacement is in our catalog!
