Lately, on social media, I have been seeing lots of videos of bath bombs being shared. I saw one that got me real excited! It was blacker than night, after it had dissolved it left the water a really dark black. I thought that was awesome so I attempted to recreate it!
We did lots of testing with a variety of different dyes. This recipe makes a black bath bomb that fizzes more gray looking but leaves your water darker than ever. If you do .30 cc of Purple Raspberry color you’ll end up with more a dark purple/black. Everyone here at The Sage really liked the dark purple one! No need to worry about this staining your skin or your tub. The color will cling to your tub if its dirty. So if anything, make sure your tub is clean before you use one of these.
I took one home to try it out and I was so happy with how it turned out! I had a long lasting fizz and once it finished my water was so black it looked amazing. Even though the water was getting cold I didn’t want to get out!

To make these bath bombs weigh all of your ingredients except for water into a bag and shake it around to mix them together. Make sure its completely mixed so you don’t end up with clumps of color in your bathtub. Using a spray bottle, spray some water in there while massaging the bag until it reaches the consistency of coarse corn meal. You can use a bath bomb press, clamshells, or a soap mold to form your bath bomb. Pack it as hard as you can and allow to dry for 6-12 hours. Throw one in the tub and let the fizzy fun begin!
