Buttercream Lip Oil Treatment

Here in Utah we are always in need of something to put on our lips because it is so very dry here. So I came up with a recipe that is a treat for your lips! I used ingredients that I enjoy but are also simple and cost effective for those that don’t have a large amount of ingredients in their cabinet. I wanted to come up with something that could be used daily for men or women that helps gently break up the dry skin on the lips without leaving the tackiness of a lip gloss.Sweet Almond Oil and Avocado Oil are great for this recipe because they are in the moderate range of oils as far as heaviness feels. I have really come to love Sweet Almond Oil in that it soaks in quickly without very much residue.

Buttercream is a great flavor oil. It also smells really good when you are pipetting this recipe into the lip pens. It reminds me of eating buttercream frosting, cake, and ice cream at a birthday party. You can’t help but love Vitamin E Acetate. I enjoy putting it in a lot of things that I make at home because it is just so good for your skin.

Instructions:

Weigh out all ingredients into your microwave safe container except for the Buttercream Flavor Oil and Vitamin E Acetate. Melt in the microwave in short bursts until the beeswax is completely melted, stirring frequently. You will have to wait for the mixture to cool quite a bit before adding the flavor oil and Vitamin E. Because this mixture is a little more fluid with very little Beeswax I did not have to get very technical about when to add the rest of the ingredients because it takes so long for the ingredients to solidify. Once the container felt lukewarm to the touch I added the flavor oil and Vitamin E.

I ended up filling 54 of our new and improved Lip Brush Pens. Wow! I grossly underestimated how many containers I needed and I was running up and down the stairs a few times to get just a few more Lip Brush Pens from the warehouse. Needless to say, I was glistening (women don’t sweat-we glisten!).

I chose the Doe Foot tip and it is really wonderful. It is a porous, velveety tip that is perfect for your more fluid recipes. Those tips require a little bit of muscle to put in to the top of the pen but once they are in they are not going anywhere. The bottom of the Lip Brush Pen makes a clicking sound when you are turning it so you know when you are pushing your product up into the tip. I have used many, many kinds of lip gloss, lipsticks, etc. over the years (I L-O-V-E anything cosmetic related) and this container is a very nice high-end choice. I can’t stop using my Lip Brush Pen. I love the sound of the click and the taste of the Buttercream. Have fun trying this out at home!
