Orange Butter Lip Balm

Being the 20 something year old that I am, I still have to deal with acne. I wish it would just go away but I can wish all I want and it’s not going to change a thing! Lately I have been using Tea Tree Oil to treat my acne. I usually dip a q-tip in the bottle and apply it to the affected area. But I found out that putting it directly on the skin can dry the skin out, which can make your body overproduce oils and make your acne worse. Also, Tea Tree Oil can make you more sensitive to UV rays.
So I came up with this recipe for a Tea Tree Face Mask that can help with acne without drying your face out completely. I really love face masks, it is how I like to pamper myself! As soon as I put on this face mask I could feel the Tea Tree Essential Oil working it’s magic. My face was a little tingly but I felt like it was really working on cleaning out my pores. Afterwards my face felt great, it did not feel dried out like I was worried about.

In order to make this face mask weigh everything except Pink Kaolin Clay, Optiphen and Tea Tree Essential Oil into a microwave safe container. Heat gently until liquid. Using an immersion blender, mix well. Add clay and stir until no lumps remain. It takes about five minutes for the clay to hydrate using an immersion blender. If you choose not to use an immersion blender due to cleaning purposes, use a spoon or fork to stir in clay. It is okay if you have lumps. Clay swells as it absorbs water and it can take up to eight hours for the clay to fully hydrate. Just stir after the clay has had an opportunity to absorb the moisture. Add Optiphen and Tea Tree Essential Oil and stir well. Package into containers, label and enjoy!
